22 ammo and rifles, and shotgun shells & shotguns should be pretty common on farms or isolated buildings. The majority of guns & ammo are only available at military type installations & police stations. I quit the DayZ SA about a year after the EA hit, and this game is in a much better place out of the gates than that was at the time.

They don't phase through walls/doors like they did there either (I'm sure they fixed that at some point). Puppets aren't as much of a PITA as the zombies were in DayZ. They just take time to figure out pathing on. There are tons of mil type loot areas, and the mechs aren't that difficult to avoid. Being able to forage/craft some basics from nothing really help. In general, the game is easier to get started in than DayZ was. I guess I didn't try putting it in my weapon slot to see if I could craft out of there, but I'm guessing the answer is no (I tried and failed to make a spiked baseball bat, but didn't have inventory room for my bat). Maybe I'm doing something wrong, but I can make a stone knife, but then I don't have anywhere to put a stick to make a spear from.

I wish they'd allow you to craft out of your hands. I didn't do that, and I'm paying for it now. Doing that allows you to craft the appropriate ammo type. Get your rifle and pistol skills to "medium" during character creation. It'll be interesting seeing where this all goes. There seems like there's a ton of items in game that don't have a purpose yet. Like, I'm not really interested in managing my optimum blood sugar/sodium/fiber/vitamin D3/etc levels. I think they need to dial back the whole eating/pooping/pissing mechanics (although people seem in love with these, so I don't see that happening). Not sure I love the ability to respawn right near where you die.Ī little later on, I ended up dying to a mech that was guarding the bunker Civ and Doc were looting. I respawned in the same area using 100 fame points and was able to loot most of the stuff off my body as they only took a couple things before running away. Then I think he respawned on his partner using 100 fame points, reequipped himself from his own dead body and then they ended up killing me. Killed a guy with a single headshot from my pistol. My stomach contents could sit at zero for 20 minutes and everything was fine. After chowing down on vegetables, mushrooms, a couple deer steaks, and some vitamins over the course of the hour, I never got the hungry message again in the second hour. My "stomach contents" % dropped by 1 every second, and if it got close to zero, I'd get the hungry message. The first hour, I had to eat continuously. I don't really understand all the food/health mechanics apparently. Yeah, the zoombies are a bit too fast for my liking. That said, zombies seem able to keep with with you when sprinting from my very limited experience. So if you're in a melee battle, hit v to disengage, and then scroll wheel up to sprint, you should be able to run. This will then let you run as per normal.don't forget that it's your scroll wheel to adjust your "pace". There's a button to leave combat mode.I think it's "v".
Scum map vs dayz how to#
I'd also like to be able to disengage from a punch fight and run away but I haven't figure out how to do that. Walking Dead led me to believe that a shovel to the zombie noggin would do the trick, but help the time the shovel just goes flying away. Other than feeling an awful lot like a walking/running simulator, I like not having to worry about the blue circle, it allows me to explore more which is what I was looking for compare to pubg. Tonight I need to play around with crafting. I things both games are fun but in the end, i will return to dayz because it feels deeper and has more "heart" for me.The problem for me isn't finding a gun, I've found several. dayz had the old crappy arma engine, that took them a lot of time because they had to rework the whole engine. scum uses the u4 engine which makes it much more easier to creat things. but the servers are laggy so they reduced the puppets to a minimum, the game feels empty and pvp was to laggy for me, i quit playing the game after 20 hours.īy the way: you cant compare both games developements. Scum has its fun momentans too, i really like the puppets and mechs, strong pve content.

they redone the complete engine over the last eyars.Īt the moment, dayz is lacking concent, its not worth buying or playing but in my opinion, its still better than scum. Most of the comments are simply not true.ĭayz is about to enter beta and the game has a really nice and solid engine now, constant 60 fps +, awsome player controller, and in MY OPINION a way better map than scum.
